Want ethics reform?  Well the best way to make it happen right now is to make sure that Zac White is the next state senator from district 18.  That’s one of the main reasons why we’re extending our endorsement to him today.

Zac isn’t a career politician.  He’s an ordinary guy who spends his time hunting with his dog, Gus, and he got into this race because he looked around after the last election and decided that someone had to step up and try to change things for the better in Arkansas.  He’s committed to the cause of ethics reform, having worked to help the Better Ethics Now Committee in their signature drive and having pledged to introduce ethics reform in the legislature after the effort stalled.  He’s also put his money where his mouth is, refusing to take contributions from corporations and returning the sole corporate contribution he was given.  He’s a better Democrat, and while his opponent, Missy Irvin, works for ALEC, out of state corporations, big tobacco, etc., Zac will represent the people of his district and ordinary Arkansans.

But don’t get the impression that Zac is a one note candidate.  He understands the needs of his district and is willing to fight for it.  Zac is from Heber, and can you think of Heber without trout fishing?  I sure can’t.  The trout fisheries there are vital to the local economy and with Washington Republicans threatening to cut funding to them Zac has stood up and pledged to do whatever it took to make sure the fisheries stay open and operational.  The guy knows his stuff, and more importantly he’s more concerned about the people of his district than he is about where his next campaign contribution is coming from, unlike Missy Irvin.

This campaign wasn’t on anyone’s radar when it started.  Zac has grabbed everyone’s attention though in a big way and Irvin is starting to look more and more vulnerable.  This is one more potential pickup for Democrats in the state senate.  Contribute to Zac’s campaign, and help us show ALEC and big corporations the door!

  1. Ethics reform is still a winner . . . and a way to get progressives elected moving forward. Proud of the campaign ZW has run against the ALEC/outside $$$ influence representation of Missy Irvin.
