Yeah, this one’s a profile in weirdness.  It starts with an attack on AR-03 candidate Ken Aden’s military record by a right wing blog, which posted what they claimed was an FOIA request showing that Aden was misrepresenting his military service.  Interestingly, the document they put out says Aden was in the air force, which Aden never claimed to serve in and expressed bewilderment about in our phone conversation.  From there, the writer of the article went on facebook and challenged Aden to produce documentation showing he was in the special forces.  Aden has done so, sending his records out not just to us but to the papers as well:

It gets more interesting from there.  The commenter was, at the time, using the name “Eugene Tackleberry”, as in this Eugene Tackleberry.  After a bit of heckling from Aden supporters on facebook, it turned out that he was really Tim Huett, Republican candidate for constable in Lonoke County township, far removed from the third district.  This guy:

Some folks in the press were looking at this.  From what I’m hearing, they pretty much looked at the document Aden sent out, took a good look at Huett’s claims, and decided the matter was resolved.  We’ll see though if Huett or anyone else gets them to bite, but I think the Aden campaign was pretty swift in shooting this down.

Anyway, one last funny (or perhaps scary) thought on this guy. From his facebook campaign page:

While I do not have a background in law enforcement, state law requires constables to be certified as a law enforcement officer before performing the duties of constable, and I will attend the necessary training immediately upon my election to the office.

Yeah, consider these antics and take a look at the Police Academy character he used the name of and then tell me if you feel safe with Barney Fife here getting his one bullet.

Sorry, but Tim has nothing to do with my blog This Ain’t Hell. I’m curious why you left off half of the DD214 which would have told us whether Aden went to SFQC or not, which would qualify him to call himself a “Green Beret”. And if he was special forces, why was his last unit an Armor Battalion? (see block 8a). And why would the Aden campaign let me look at the whole DD14 – is it because they didn’t want someone who knew what they were looking at, but they don’t mind if a bunch of know-it-all journalists and bloggers tell the public what to think about they’re seeing. This is obviously a forgery, I guess we’ll let the FBI sort this out, huh?

  2. Jonn Lilyea says:

“why would the Aden campaign let me look at the whole DD14″ should have been “why wouldn’t the Aden campaign let me look at the whole DD14″.

  3. Sean says:

Question, Where is Adens record of having finished the SF “Q” course on his DD-214? There should be entries in the remarks block and Military Education blocks. he would have been awarded the Special Forces Tab as well and it would be listed on his DD-214. Releasing half of the DD-214 doesnt help prove the mans bonafides.

  4. George.B says:

Dates don’t add up either. Totals from Block 11 and Block 12 are different. Oddly enough, by 2 years and 9 months…the total of time he claims to have been SF.

blah blah blah…you are REALLY starting to get under the skin of these right wing creeps, ken. keep up the good work! they have gone from killing cats to forging documents to threatening people on the radio; and its only going to get worse ….better have your long form birth certificate and high school diploma at the ready,mr aden. and john lilyea (if that IS your name) lololol @ ‘letting the FBI sort this out’ ..you people break me up…

I think you might want to do some more research on this one. The 2-1 file and the FOIA have no mention of SF, additionally, everything that claimed SF on the candidates website has been scrubbed. If he was SF, why did he take it down? As others have said, the 214 here is hinkey, since it is only half of it. If you look at my email address (for you Blue Ark) you can see that I have some experience with DD214′s.

Gentlemen, first full disclosure. I am a Republican and a retired Army CWO. I picked up on a couple of issues regarding 3rd Cong Dist Dem Candidate Ken Aden and in researching his claims reached the conclusion something ain’t kosher about them. For fan’s of Blue Collar Comedy (gee, does that make them Democrats?) the “sign” was Aden’s photo in uniform on his web page (without the required DOD discliamer I may add) in which he was not wearing a Special Forces tab over the 82nd Airborne patch. I served 20 years, worked for the Army as a civilian for 20 more, had the privilege during Nam’ of supporting SF, and have some special ops time of my own and NEVER met a bonafide SF or Ranger who did not proudly wear their tab. I obtained a copy of Jonn’s 14 May FOIA request reply from the National Records Center and today verified it was authentic. Aden went Air Force Reserve out of High School and never put a uniform on. He joined the Arkansas Army National Guard and was sent to the Sinai with a company of the 153rd. He returned one month before the unit which is an indicator he had a problem. He joined the regular Army, was sent to Germany, had a side trip to Iraq, came back to Fort Riley (1st Inf Div) then went to the 82nd at Fort Bragg. I spoke with Fort Bragg G-1 today to ask questions because nothing in his records indicated completing the JFK Special Warfare Special Forces Course, him being awarded a Special Forces tab, or ever being assigned to a Special Forces Group or unit. In fact, the unit shown in block 8a on what looks to be a doctored DD Form 214, the 73rd Armor, was deactivated at Fort Bragg in 1997. Nothing in his records shows award of the Military Volunteer Service Medal and the sign there is the way he lists it out of precedence and ahead of his ARCOM, etc. If you look at his web site, Aden belongs to the 1st Infantry Division Association and 82nd Airborne Association but not the Special Forces Association or Professional Soldiers Association. The question that needs to be answered is why a solider with ten years of service having achieved the grade of E-6 so early and with 3 ARCOM’s and 2 Achievement Medals left the Army ten years short of a good retirement with medical benefits for life (such as they will be when this freakin administration finishes screwing America’s fighting men and women. At this point I believe the Army is looking into Aden’s documents and there is talk the FBI may be as well. If Blue Arkansas would care to sit down with me once I obtain all of the necessary information and verifiable sources I will be glad to lay it out. Just so you know, I looked into Tom Cotton’s Ranger claims and not only verified his completion of Ranger School and award of his Ranger tab, I even found a photo of his graduating Ranger School class. Those of us who served take very seriously stolen valor and Mr. Aden will be afforded the opportunity to provide original documents to substantiate his claims. Additionally, there are allegations of sticky fingers with his Crittenden County non-profit with regards to collecting funds to improve West-Memphis tennis courts and his hasty departure from that area. Sorry Blue Arkansas, you can’t win them all.

  8. Sean says:

Hey George Lyne? how does crow taste?

Aden turns out to have been Lying about being Special Forces. JFK Special Warfare Center and School has no record of your boy. His only Military education was WLC/BNCOC, and Armorer school. No Special Forces “Q” course. He served honorably as an infantryman, but lied about being a Green hat. the fact he removed from his own site any mention of special forces membership tells much.

  9. Tim.Huett says:

Hi! Tim Huett here, AKA “Eugene Tackleberry” here! You guys should go read the front page of todays Arkansas Democrat Gazzette, They have a wonderful article in there about Ken Aden. Just some high lights, The Special Warfare Center confirms that Ken Aden was not, is not and has never been a Special Forces Soldier. There is no record of him earning the Volunteer medal, and Arkansas State University has no record of him ever taking a single class..so he lied about his degree as well.

Not bad for a “Barney Fife”, wouldn’t you say?

    Enjoy the humiliation.

  10. Sean says:

Gee must suck to realize those right wing rethuglicans were telling you the truth about Aden. Man did serve but had to make himself out to be some sort of Ninja and got caught lying. Now it seems he never attended the school he claimed either.

  11. David Franks says:

RE “Man did serve but had to make himself out to be some sort of Ninja and got caught lying.”

So you’re claiming that Green Berets are some kind of ninjas? Talk about stolen valor. You’d better keep an eye out for invisible assassins.

    Good luck with that.
