What!? You don’t think Marion Berry’s worth 200 bucks!?
November 12th, 2009Time for a blast from the past:
That’s the 1st district’s Marion Berry (my congressman) sticking it to the Republicans in 2005. Everyone remembers the Howdy Doody comment, but lost in the retellings are the good lines about runaway Republican spending, the take down of Republican “family values”, and a defence of “women and children”, meaning those that need the help of government the most. Marion Berry may be a Blue Dog. He may be a little more conservative on some things than I’d like. But he’s not Mike Ross. The man has his moments, and they can be a thing of beauty when he does. What’s more, remember, he voted for healthcare reform when he could have gone the route of Mike Ross and side with the insurance companies and teabaggers, but he didn’t. He voted for us, and now I think it’s important that we show him that we as progressives will reward good behavior. Who knows, if we do, maybe we can gain some leverage with him in the future.
So far we’ve raised $205 for Vic Snyder and just $5 for Marion Berry on the ActBlue page. How about we see just how long it takes us to raise $200 for Berry. You don’t have to give a lot. If you have just ten or twenty dollars to spare, that adds up. Remember, the Republicans are counting on making Arkansas a battleground next year, and it’s important that we shore up the Democrats who voted the right way on the biggest vote this year. So let’s show Berry that we’ve got his back since he has ours, and let’s show the Republicans, Mike Ross, and Blanche Lincoln that a yes vote on healthcare is a winning issue in Arkansas.
