Profile Of A Conservative Clown: James O’Keefe

So, a few of you have probably seen that the conservative joke of a hatchet man, James O’Keefe (the guy on the left), has been making the rounds in Arkansas on a speaking tour. Now, most folks probably don’t know who this guy is, and that’s a pity.  In some ways, he’s the most notable up and coming right wing hatchet man.  In others, he’s great entertainment considering just how pathetically funny his “career” has been in its own twisted way.  So, where to start…

O’Keefe first got his feet wet in his bizarre brand of activism by attempting to “expose the bankruptcy of diversity policies” as TPM put it by starting a fake Irish heritage group in college and trying to get Lucky the Leprechaun (you know, the Lucky Charms mascot) banned as offensive to the Irish, making all us Irish folks look bad in the process.  Well of course the whole thing stemmed from that whole white resentment crap and his attempt to make the university look bad fell flat.  So he moved on to frying bigger fish-ACORN.

Now a lot of folks probably remember the pimp video that brought down ACORN.  Well that was O’Keefe’s work, and it turns out that the video was a hoax, O’Keefe never posed as a pimp while trying to coerce ACORN employees into giving him dirt for the camera and in the end the video was edited to make the organization look bad.  Mercifully for O’Keefe, traditional media outlits tend to be lazy and sensationalists and don’t give much of a damn about facts anymore.  So after ACORN fell apart under the scandal, O’Keefe had a major feather in his cap.  Of course, a government investigation cleared the now defunct ACORN of any wrong doing and O’Keefe got sued over the whole thing, but since when have conservatives let facts get in the way of a good lie?

After that, O’Keefe attempted to illegally tap the phones of U.S. Senator Mary Landreu disguised as a telephone repair man.  That little bit of law breaking got him some community service, probation, and a fine after he plead guilty.

Following that, he attempted to “seduce” a CNN correspondent and “punk her” by getting it on tape. Sounds like a sexual predator if you ask me.

Following that, he attempted to pull his ACORN hit job on NPR, but his act didn’t work this time.

So that’s it in a nutshell.  There’s a few other little nuggets in his record but I’m done wasting my time on this clown.  What you have is a guy who lies, manipulates videos to ruin careers for the sake of advancing an ideological agenda, gets his degenerate kicks frat boy style by trying to seduce women and embarrass them by filming it, and is just quite frankly a rather sad individual.  What’s really funny in all this though is just how many folks out there on the right are coming out to see this guy.  To think, that kind of stuff is what it takes to be a conservative champion these days.
