…
January 26th, 2010Okay, planned on writing this earlier, but had some trouble with the video. Take a look:
That, my friends, is Dr. Carolyn Anne Smith, an independent candidate for state representative down in District 34. Okay, stop laughing, and let’s get serious. Apparently, I’m one of those people that Dr. Smith (no idea what her doctorate is in) thinks should “get somewhere and sit down” (you can watch her other videos for evidence of that). Fat chance on that happening by the way. As I’ve said many times, I’m a Christian. I’m also gay. I’m also a supporter of the separation of church and state, which that bit of background in constitutional law informs me does, in fact, exist. Now, I’m all for people of faith, like myself, getting involved in government-but I’m also for people of different faiths or no faith doing the same. That’s what makes America, well, America. That’s what insures that everyone’s freedom is protected. And while I’m sure Dr. CAS has she seems to call herself stands about as much chance of winning as I do of seeing a Tyrannosaurus out my bedroom window tomorrow, but regardless, expressions of religious intolerance have gone unchallenged in Arkansas for too long.
So I’ll make this brief. Dr. Smith is entitled to her views and all but America is not a theocracy, never has been, and never should be and her apparet desire to sacrifice the liberty of others in the name of her religion is, simply, wrong and un-American. That’s really all I have to say. Okay, go back to laughing now.
